One man was killed and a police officer injured in a road traffic accident yesterday morning in Trincity.

Reports said, around 1 a.m., Constantine was in a grey Mazda 323 proceeding east along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway when the vehicle came into contact with a blue Mitsubishi Lancer.

At the time, the Lancer was attempting to manoeuvre north onto Trincity Central Road.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage on impact.

Constantine suffered fatal injuries.

He died at the scene.

The driver of the Lancer, a police officer from Freeport, also suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.

Sgt Perez is continuing enquiries.

This incident has pushed the number of road deaths for the year so far to 21.

The comparative toll for the same period in 2023 was also 21.
